Aging and illness are inevitable examples of the Buddha’s core teaching of impermanence.
We begin with a most pleasing “heavenly body” as represented by a spiral depiction of the golden section. This body is obscured over time, with just the essence; mind, heart, soul showing through. Each piece then explores an aspect of change, enhanced by hand embroidery.
While the conditions I’ve chosen to depict are common to all of us, in each piece I’ve included a personal reflection hand-written under the organza that is the essence of my experience.
Silk broadcloth, silk organza, silk threads, pen. Fabrics and threads hand-dyed, silkscreened using original motifs, hand and machine stitched.
Each piece is 20" wide by 20" high, created in 2014 to 2015.
